Strategic Rationale and Background
Generational Group is one of North America’s leading middle-market investment banking and M&A advisory firms. The firm is distinguished by its expertise in succession planning education, business valuation, M&A advisory, proprietary direct marketing methodologies, and deep relationships within the U.S. investor community. With a client-focused service model and an experienced team of M&A professionals, Generational Group completes approximately 200 transactions annually. Its proprietary digital platform, DealForce, provides access to a network of more than 35,000 active buyers.
The firm maintains a leading position in U.S. transactions ranging from under US$100 million to US$1 billion and was recognized as “Investment Banking Firm of the Year”*2
in both 2024 and 2025.
*2 An annual award presented by The M&A Advisor.
Since establishing its Singapore office in 2016, Nihon M&A Center Group has expanded its international presence across the five major ASEAN markets: Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia, and Thailand. Through partnerships with local accounting firms and professional advisory firms, as well as collaboration with M&A boutiques worldwide through the World M&A Alliance, the Group supports cross-border M&A transactions on a global scale. In March 2024, the Group further strengthened its East Asian capabilities through an investment in Korea M&A Exchange (KMX), operator of one of Korea’s largest M&A platforms.
As Japanese companies continue to pursue overseas growth opportunities and cross-border acquisitions, global cross-border M&A activity has shown strong momentum. According to UNCTAD, worldwide cross-border M&A transaction value increased by 14.4% year-over-year to US$442.7 billion in 2024. North America, in particular, experienced significant growth, with transaction value rising 90.4% year-over-year to US$195.8 billion, reinforcing the United States’ position as the world’s largest cross-border M&A market.
At the same time, cross-border M&A transactions between Japan and the United States involving small and medium-sized enterprises remain relatively limited. For many companies, gaining access to the U.S. market and building local networks continues to be challenging.
Through this alliance with Generational Group, which possesses a strong track record and extensive network in the U.S. middle market, the Company aims to provide Japanese businesses with access to attractive acquisition opportunities and strategic partners in the United States, thereby supporting their growth and business expansion throughout North America.
In addition, the Company will continue to evaluate opportunities to strengthen its long-term service capabilities in the North American market, including the potential expansion of its local business presence.
Nihon M&A Center Group celebrated its 35th anniversary in April 2026.
We position our 35th anniversary as an opportunity for our “Second Founding,” and aim to achieve further growth.
