Nihon M&A Center Holdings Starts Climate-related Information Disclosure Based on TCFD Recommendations -New Sustainability Promotion Committee will help to develop and improve disclosure and response systems-
Nihon M&A Center Holdings Inc. (hereinafter "the Company"; head office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President and Representative Director: Suguru Miyake) has announced its endorsement of the recommendations of the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), which aim at strengthening the disclosure of climate-related information in response to growing public demand. It has also begun disclosing information based on the TCFD recommendations.
In addition, the Company has established the new Sustainability Promotion Committee to upgrade its internal response systems.
■ Background and purpose
In the face of growing concerns over climate change and other sustainability issues in recent years, companies have come under growing public pressure to disclose information. Although the Company’s business activities impact minimally on climate change, we put great importance on corporate social responsibility and constructive dialogue with investors. We therefore decided that it was essential to ensure necessary information disclosure and set up systems to enable this.
■ Main initiatives
1. Start of information disclosure in line with TCFD recommendations
The Company has begun disclosing financial information based on the four pillars of the TCFD recommendations (governance, strategy, risk management, and metrics and targets). In this first year’s disclosure, we identified risks and opportunities related to climate change for our domestic operations over a time frame to 2050. We then conducted analyses based on multiple scenarios to evaluate their impacts. We plan to gradually expand the content of our disclosures in accordance with institutional trends and the development of internal systems.
2. The new Sustainability Promotion Committee
To accelerate company-wide sustainability-related initiatives, we established the Sustainability Promotion Committee, chaired by the CFO & Executive Vice President.
The committee will implement a variety of practical measures to further develop and enhance information disclosure, and monitor progress on materiality (important issues).
■ Future policies
The Company is committed to promoting measures to address climate change and continually improving its TCFD compliance as far as practically possible. To maintain and improve our corporate value over the medium to long term, we will also promote dialogue with stakeholders by responding appropriately to social demands and increasing the transparency of our disclosures.
